The Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) is a representative body of the Parish community
and represents the unity and faith of the community. It aims at making the parish
a vital missionary community by arousing the consciousness of all the parishioners
about their obligation for evangelization and to bring about an effective spiritual
renewal at the Parish level. The Council identifies problems and needs of the Parish
and ways and means to solve them. The Council also animates and coordinates the
activities of the existing apostolate, associations and begins new activities that
are necessary for the good of the Parish. Further, it draws up plans and programme
for the spiritual, educational, economic, social and cultural progress of the parish
and fosters integration between the various groups of people in the Parish.
The Parish Pastoral Council members are either Elected or Nominated.
All parishioners who are practicing Catholics, have attained the age of eighteen
(18) years and have been parishioners for at least six (6) months before and also
expect to stay for a further period of six (6) months are eligible to be members
of the Council.
The tenure of office of the elected and nominated members shall be for three years
only.
